What does 'City of Music' mean?
Glasgow was recently named a UNESCO City of Music, and is the second Scottish city to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.

Why Glasgow?
Glasgow is a vibrant city with a legendary music scene that stretches across the whole spectrum from country and classical to hip-hop, indie and techno. Its venues are equally varied and the city hosts an average 130 music events each week more than any other Scottish city. Glasgow was called 'Europe's secret capital of music' by Time Magazine, and the city boasts a massive pool of talent across every style of music.
How does the radio station work?
The Music City Radio stream was created by Open Ear Music and showcases the finest Glasgow music- old and new- 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Shows are scheduled according to label, or style of music. We constantly update these shows, so it's worth listening as often as you can. Clicking on the tabs will let you see what shows are coming up throughout the week, and clicking on the album artwork will direct you to the relevant website- whether the artist's own, or a label site- so you can find out more.
Who are Open Ear?
Open Ear Music is a Glasgow-based music playlist design and supply company. They supply music streams to pubs, bars cafes, restaurants and hotels across the UK, specialising in the finest independent music. Find out more here: www.openearmusic.com
I make music. How can I get my own tracks playlisted?
If you're based in Glasgow, we want to hear what you do, and get your music out there. Send your tracks to our dropbox here: http://soundcloud.com/open-ear/dropbox
If you are registered with the PPL and PRS you could earn yourself some royalty money - every time a track is played a royalty fee is distributed from us to the collection societies.
Is my music passed on to anyone else?
Absolutely not. Under no circumstances will we pass your music on to anybody. However, if you would like to consider signing your artist/label up to the Open Ear streaming servive, feel free to visit our online registration at http://www.openearmusic.com/for-labels/
What do I do if I want to remove my tracks?
If you change your mind about having your tracks playlisted, get in touch with info@openearmusic.com and we'll do this for you immediately.
I uploaded a track but haven't heard it played. Can find out when it will be on?
Unfortunately, we can give no guarantees if or when your track will be played. Please consult the schedule to find out when different music genres are featured, it may also be featured in the 'New Glasgow Music' show, from 6-8pm three days per week.
