Violin Shop (The)

  • Type Violin

The Violin Shop, situated in the West End of Glasgow near the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, was established nearly thirty years ago, and since then has been transformed into an 'Olde Worlde Musicke Shoppe', where to enter is like stepping back in time.

Specialising in antique stringed instruments, the shop also carries a full range of new instruments, bows, cases and all accessories, to suit the needs of all players from beginner to professional.

Violins, violas, 'cellos and double basses all have their own rooms, each containing a fascinating array of instruments. Instruments can be tried and tested in these quirky and luxurious settings, and the experienced staff aim to make, what can be a daunting experince, less stressful.

The Bass Room probably houses the largest selection of double basses in Scotland, usually with about twelve instruments on display at any one time, ranging from good quality beginners' outfits to professional level orchestral instruments.

The Violin Shop specialises in the sale of old instruments, but also stocks a full range of newer ones; from outfits for beginners in all sizes, to top of the range new instruments for advanced students.

In addition, they undertake all kinds of repair and restoration work, on both instruments and bows, in their own workshops.
