Platform is a theatre venue situated in the Easterhouse area of Glasgow in the striking Bridge building, which also encompasses a library, college and leisure centre. As well as regular art exhibition, drama and dance events, it runs a wide range of music related evening classes, workshops and activities under its Taking Part scheme. It works in collaboration with local organisations to deliver a regular and varied programme.
Innovative projects include The Incredible Swimming Choir, which is a performance for 0-4 year old and their parents in the adjoining swimming pool, and Flutter Echo, a music festival dedicated to young people. It has also played host to touring productions from Scottish Opera. The venue also recently launched a new music programme including an inaugral music festival: Eastern Promise. Bands and musicians who have recently performed include James Yorkston and the Athletes, The Phantom Band, The Bluebells, Rachel Grimes, Nils Frahm, King Creosote and Alasdair Roberts.
