The African and Caribbean Network Ltd (A&CN) is a voluntary sector umbrella organization and coordinating body for 40+ African and Caribbean communities groups representing 2,300 people in Glasgow and the surrounding region. Since our formation in July 2005 we have been working towards to establishment of an African-Caribbean Centre for cultural Heritage, Integration and Social Enterprise. We launched a feasibility study with Communities Scotland support in 2007 and successfully bid for City Council owned premises at 66/68 Osborne St and at 30 Bell St for social enterprise in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City.

The African and Caribbean population in Glasgow, and throughout Scotland, has increased significantly since 1991 – GROS officers estimated in October 2010 that there were between 18,000 and 24,000 African and Caribbean people living in Scotland which the 2011 Census would be able to confirm – a treble from the 6,000 recorded in 2001.
