New Music Update- August
Posted: Thursday 2 August 2012
This month in Glasgow there are plenty of new releases to talk about, here are just a few tracks from our favourite artists and unsigned talent.
Instruments of Rapture, founded by Graeme Clark in 2008 has a new release for us this month,“The Streets Are Alive With The Hounds Of Music” features The Revenge/6th Borough Project, OOFT!, Deep Space Orchestra, Craig Bratley, Gazeebo, Tornado Wallace, Cronk Family Enterprises and Daniel Solar. The record is an amalgamation of material from various projects within the label combining a mixture of sample based tracks and remixes and stands as an exciting representation of the label.
For the 7th release with Phuturelabs, new producer Production Unit releases the "Bridge EP". The EP consists of four great tracks, Production Unit takes in elements of classic early house and techno with sprinklings of IDM, left of centre electronica and dub. Also Glasgow Music City Radio has an exclusive
preview of Cruffy's upcoming track "Flyin High", you won't find it on any other station right now so definitely check this one out.
Also this month we have several new tracks from local Glasgow artists which you can find on our New Glasgow Music playlist. The tracks this month come from Atomic League, David Vincent, The Winter Tradition and Claudio Abbado.
Soma Records has three new releases to offer us this month including Kyle Geiger's new release “Weeks Before” available from the 31st of July is a piece of music
which he describes to be “melodic techno with some teeth”. The track is a representation of his familiar driving sound but with a more musical approach.
Next we have Gary Beck's track “Before the Crash” off Soma's 100th album release and Beck's new LP “Bring a Friend” which will be released on September 24th. And finally we have DeepChord aka Rod Modell's new album Sommer a collection of meditative electronic compositions, demonstrating Modell's producing finesse when it comes to dub-techno. Available August 27th via Soma Records.
So there you have it, plenty of new music to listen to this August, all of which you can find on Glasgow Music City Radio by clicking on our link at the top right corner of the Glasgow City of Music Homepage.
