New Music for November

After a brief hiatus this blogger is excited to be back writing about the latest releases Glasgow has to offer. Here at Glasgow Music City Radio we are delighted to mention these artists in this months blog post as we know the records will only grow in strength and popularity towards the end of this great musical year for Glasgow and on into 2013.

frabbitOne of Glasgow's favourite indie rock bands “ Frightened Rabbit” released their five track EP “State Hospital” on September 25th. Following on from the success of their LP'S “The Midnight Organ Fight” and “Mixed Drinks” there is certainly more of a lyrical maturity, using a mix of subtlety and metaphorical description to engage us in this hopeful and rousing record; what this band does best.

Also this month we are backing Glaswegian duo Valerie and Oscar aka “The Souls”. Their track the souls sunlight“Sunlight”off the “Diamonds and Software” album has been deemed “epic” by the Japanese Popstars and was described by X fm's Eddie Temple Morris as “a beautiful slice of electronica”. Here at Music City Radio we are particular fond of OOFT's remix on the track and will be streaming it throughout the week for your hearing pleasure.

abigail grey dark woodNext we are delighted to add Abagail Grey's new EP “Snowflake Remember” their summer release “Dark Wood” added to the Glasgow Music City playlists. “Snowflake Remember” produced by Chris Geddes and Tony Doogan is an inspired record aligning the juxtaposed moods of the Winter season. The EP is a wonderful example of Claire Campell's delicate lyrical and musical talents. We can also see this in the bands previous EP “Dark Wood”, which was written after the devasting death of Campell's aunt. I highly recommend a listen to both and allow Abagail Grey to draw you in with these stunning records, if they haven't already.

Finally, I'd like to talk about Chemikal Underground's folk favourite, Adrian Crowley. “I see three birds adrian crowleyflying”, his 6th album, was released on September 17th and displays Crowley's poetic and humorous take on often bleak topics. Crowley's voice is in full control of the record and resonates with ease in this musical display of elegance and haunting beauty.

We hope you enjoy these new additions to Music City Radio and would also recommend you check out: Shame- Alike, Django Django- Life's a Beach, Errors- Relics and Fault Lines- Rock Hard. All of which will be in our New Glasgow Music Section which you can find programmed through our website linked on the Glasgow City of Music page.
