Family Fun Music Day

We’re looking for groups to step up for a unique challenge and a chance to shine.

On 24 September 2011, Glasgow City of Music joins forces with partners from all over Glasgow to offer a full day of music and fun in the city’s premiere music venues - Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Glasgow City Halls.

We have 8 spotlight opportunities for performers to take part.

Here’s the pitch:
We have 4 slots for large groups (around 30 performers, all standing) and 4 slots for smaller groups (up to 4 musicians). We want you to give us the best of what you do for around 10 minutes. Then, we invite you to face up to a unique and daunting challenge, one like no other…. Well actually it’s more a bit of fun:

The theme of the family day is SPACE - so we challenge you to come up with your own unique, bespoke, incomparable and sensational version of the music from 2001 A Space Odyssey – the open section of Richard Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra. Simple as that. We’re sure you know the bit we mean, but in case your memory needs refreshing....

You can do it any way you like - use any instruments, voices whatever. The important thing is to do it your way, have fun doing it, and wow the audience with the result!

In order to take part we need to know who you are, what you do and we need to hear a bit of your performance. If you have stuff on myspace, youtube or anywhere similar, send us a link to: info@glasgowcityofmusic.com

Please note, large ensembles must be able to perform standing, and the small groups can be amplified, but must not require extensive set up.
