Sunny Govan Radio will promote the ‘Turn it Up Glasgow’ CD at a launch
party at a top city centre music venue.
The night will include live performances from upcoming bands such as
R-Kive and No Fxd Abode, as well as familiar Glaswegian singers such
as former Scheme member Denny Oliver.

Stairway Glasgow on Union Street is set to host the event on Friday
November 4, and Station Boss Heather McMillan is urging music fans to
come along to get their hands on some free Sunny Govan Goodies.

She said: “We're really excited about the range of talent and genre on
the Turn it Up Glasgow CD.
On the night, there might be a couple of extra surprises for the station fans.”

The album, which costs £6.99, includes 20 tracks from well-known
Glasgow bands such as A Band Called Quinn and Sunny Govan's very own
presenting performers Steg G & the Freestyle Master.

Steg G also produced the album. He said:“The platforms for local music
are diminishing in Scotland and it's great to see an outlet for local
grass-roots bands who don't always have the opportunity to have their
music heard.”

Outreach worker Jim McMillan said: “This is just a small selection of
the bands across the UNESCO City of Music. However, there's also a
cheeky wee number from a band from Nurenberg, where we are twinned
with another community radio station.”

Opera singer Christina Dunwoodie is also expected to perform on the
night with a special version of the stations anthem Unity in the
Community.

The event is taking place on Friday November 4. Doors open at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £5 And can be booked in advance by phoning the station on
0141 445 3741 or bought at the door on the night.
