Merchant City Festival 2012Less than a week to go until the biggest and best Merchant City Festival ever, featuring over 300 events in 75 venues - some musical highlights include: 

Glasgow UNESCO City of Music

2012 Experience Stage – Brunswick St
Closing the stage in celebratory mood, Glasgow UNESCO City of Music invites bands from its creative cities partners in Sevilla, Bologna and Gent, to join in the fun.

Rhythm Monztaz
Join drummer extraordinaire, Dougie Hudson (Salsa Celtica), for three mornings of fun and active rhythm exploration. Children will use drums, bells, body percussion, sticks, hands and shakers to explore your own rhythm and the rhythm around you. Workshops will culminate in a carnival parade to Brunswick Street where the children will perform their compositions with Dougie’s band Mandala Moodz on the 2012 Experience Stage (part of Merchant City Festival celebrations).
This will kick off the family street party at midday.

Celtic Connections presents: A celebration of 30 years of WOMAD 
The World Of Music And Dance Festival (WOMAD) has come a long way since its inaugural event 30 years ago. Three of the best acts in world music today come together to celebrate this remarkable event. Join Baloji, Deolinda and Hot Water at the Old Fruitmarket, Thursday 26 July, 8pm.
