Bill Fontana - Finnieston Crane

Silent Echoes- Finnieston Crane – Glasgow

American artist Bill Fontana may be the biggest of the big names in sound art and experimental work. He thinks epic – he’s made pieces on the Golden Gate Bridge, the Arc de Triomphe and Chesil Beach. We’re thrilled that he is creating our first Glasgow Commission right now inspired by the iconic landmark – the Finnieston Crane. It has been 18 months in development and goes live on 18 April under the portico at GOMA. Look Up!

You will be able to see live transmission of the piece too on the website when it launches on the 18th April, but if you want to find out more before then check in at www.silentechoes-glasgow.com from 1 April 2013.

You’ll be able to follow the final stages of the creation of the project and read background information on the commission. The installation goes live on 18 April and runs to 3 May.

In the meantime, follow us here and on Facebook /Twitter for more details as they evolve…..
