BBC Young Traditional Champions Take to the Road
Over the course of the month of October, finalists and winners of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year award will be covering a lot of miles all over Scotland performing their effervescent sets of tunes and melodious songs to enthusiastic audiences.
Wednesday October 14th at 8.00pm sees the TMSA Young Trad Tour 09 coming to Saint Andrews in the Square, Glasgow. The musicians - or 'Muckle Loons' as they like to be known, are delighted to be working together again after an intensive rehearsal and recording period this summer and they are really excited to be back in Glasgow where it all started for them.

They are all finalists and winners of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year award which takes place each year at the Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow and has now become an established and respected platform for young performers representing the breadth of Scotland's instrumental and vocal traditions.
The TMSA Young Trad Tour 2009 is a showcase for the cream of the new generation of Scottish musicians and the Traditional Music and Song Association is proud to be associated with these young musicians at the early stages of very promising careers in traditional music.

As well as being highly talented solo performers, the sound they create as a band is energetic, dynamic and full of promise for the tradition they carry.

There's a real powerhouse of Scottish fiddling in this band led by this year's winner Ruairidh MacMillan and Daniel Thorpe and Jack Smedley. Beautiful Gaelic airs to lowlands and Borders songs from Kenneth Nicholson, Adam Holmes and 2008 winner Ewan Robertson. And not forgetting the big sound of the Highland pipes played in his inimitable style by Lorne MacDougall.

From the gentle slow airs of the Gaelic Highlands to the storming jigs and reels and the quintessentially Scottish Strathspeys-all these young musicians are truly exceptional!
The Young Trad Tour will have their brand new CD on sale at the concert on:

Wednesday October 14th at 8pm at Saint Andrews in the Square, Glasgow
