In the 100-odd years since they first unleashed their revolutionary music on the world, the composers of the Second Viennese School -- Schoenberg, Webern and Berg -- still have the power to shock. This concert features some of their most appealing work, including Webern's pastoral orchestration of Schubert's German Dances; three pieces for Berg's Lyric Suite; Schoenberg's lyrical Violin Concerto (recently given a ravishing outing by Hilary Hahn, and here featuring Ilya Gringolts) and the same composer's stunning Five Orchestral Pieces, here in the 1949 version.
